How do I sign in?
Tap Sign in on the welcome screen and choose Sign in with Apple, or use email and password. Sign in with Apple is one-tap and doesn't require a password. Most practitioners prefer it.
I can't sign in with Apple: what should I do?
Make sure Sign in with Apple is enabled in iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple. If you previously signed in with Hide-My-Email, your address looks like xyz@privaterelay.appleid.com: use the same Apple ID to recover. Still stuck? Email us with your Apple ID and we'll resolve it within 48 hours.
How do I change my subscription?
Apple manages subscriptions, not us. Open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SelfMade Subliminals and choose a new plan. The change takes effect at the end of your current period.
How do I cancel?
Same place: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SelfMade Subliminals → Cancel Subscription. You keep premium access until the end of the current period. No friction, no exit survey.
I was charged but don't see premium. What happened?
Open the app, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. This pings Apple to re-verify your subscription. If it still doesn't unlock within a minute, email us your Apple receipt and we'll fix it manually.
How do I restore purchases on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID, then tap Settings → Restore Purchases. Your subscription transfers; your subliminals re-download from your device's iCloud backup.
How do I create my first subliminal?
From the home tab, tap Create. Choose a category, pick a script (or write your own), select an ambient sound, then tap the record button and read your affirmations aloud. The app mixes everything together and saves to your library. The whole flow takes about three minutes.
My recording sounds quiet. Is that normal?
Yes, by design. Subliminal mode mixes your voice at −35 dB below the ambient sound, so your conscious mind hears rain or theta beats; your subconscious hears the script. If you want to hear yourself clearly, switch to Whisper mode in playback settings.
What's the difference between Subliminal, Whisper, and SATS mode?
Subliminal mixes your voice at −35 dB, below conscious threshold. Whisper at −10 dB: clearly audible affirmations, good for active focus work. SATS at −20 dB: the ambient sound slowly fades to silence over 20 minutes, designed for State Akin To Sleep hypnagogic practice.
Can I listen with my screen off / phone locked?
Yes. SelfMade plays in the background and continues with the screen off. iOS lock-screen controls show your current subliminal.
What are binaural beats and which should I use?
Two slightly different audio frequencies played in each ear; your brain perceives a third "beat" frequency. Theta (6 Hz) for SATS and deep meditation. Alpha (10 Hz) for focused practice and creative work. Delta (2 Hz) for deep sleep listening. Use headphones: binaural beats don't work through speakers.
How do I edit a subliminal after I've made it?
Open the subliminal in your library, tap the menu (•••), and choose Edit. You can change the title, swap the ambient sound, adjust the mix level, or re-record. The script itself is permanent once recorded: re-record to change words.
Can I share my subliminal with someone else?
You can share the mixed audio file via the standard iOS share sheet. We don't recommend it: your subconscious recognizes your own voice in a way no one else's voice will recognize it. The whole point of SelfMade is that the voice is yours.
How long until I see results?
Most practitioners notice an inner shift in the first week: calmer nervous system, clearer wanting. External manifestations vary: some land in days, some in months. The velocity tracker exists so you can watch your own pattern, not anyone else's.
What if my manifestation hasn't happened yet?
Keep listening. Then notice: is the practice taking longer than your other manifestations? If yes, the Notice the Pattern flow will surface a guided intervention. If you're still early, the standard answer is the Goddardian one: assume it's already done, feel it, then forget about it. The wish fulfilled is the prayer.
Can I make a subliminal for someone else (specific person)?
Yes. Specific-person manifestations are a category in the script library. Write the affirmations as if the relationship is already as you wish: "X loves me freely. We laugh together. The connection is easy." Present tense, no force.
What's the difference between affirmations and subliminals?
An affirmation is a statement you say or read consciously. A subliminal is that same affirmation mixed below conscious-hearing threshold, so it reaches the subconscious without the inner critic interfering. SelfMade gives you both. Whisper mode for affirmations, Subliminal mode for subliminals.
I don't believe in this. Will it still work?
Probably less reliably than if you did. The mechanism, whatever you think it is (pure suggestion, RAS reprogramming, Goddardian assumption: works through your nervous system, not despite it. Belief isn't required; openness is. You don't need certainty to record your voice and press play.
What's an archetype, and why does mine matter?
During onboarding, the app computes which of 18 archetypes you are: your manifestation personality. It shapes which scripts get recommended, when the app surfaces practices, and how Notice the Pattern reads your blocks. Your archetype is the identity layer of the practice.
What does "Notice the Pattern" actually do?
When your manifestations in a category consistently take longer than your personal average, the app surfaces a guided 6-step flow. It names the likely subconscious block (self-worth, identity, inherited belief, past wound, conflicting desire, visibility fear), then offers a tailored response: a block-specific subliminal, a journaling prompt, or a SATS visualization. Not generic motivation. Specific practice.
Can I change my archetype later?
Yes: Settings → Archetype → Retake the quiz. Archetypes also evolve naturally as your practice deepens; the app surfaces the shift when it sees it.
Where is my voice recording stored?
On your device only. Voice files live in iOS's app-private filesystem, encrypted at rest. They never leave your phone.
Can SelfMade hear my recordings?
No. We never upload them. We can't access them. We can't use them to train models. Even if we wanted to, the architecture won't let us.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete Account. This wipes everything: your profile, your listening history, your manifestation seals, your archetype. Local recordings stay on your phone until you uninstall the app.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. We don't sell data. We don't use ad SDKs. The only third parties we use are Apple (sign-in, payments), Supabase (database), and RevenueCat (receipts). See our
Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
